Hello! My name is Orla, I am 17 years old and I am a photographer based in Auckland. I was born in New Zealand however I have spent the last five years in the UK, during which I have had the opportunity to travel to places such as Paris, Rome, Lucca, Cardiff, London, Belfast and Dublin.
During my time in the UK I completed a photography GCSE, achieved at an A* grade. All my work from the course can be viewed on my website here. I was also lucky enough to work with a local commercial photographer. Simon's website can be viewed here.

In August 2017 I emigrated back to New Zealand. Since moving back, I have decided I would like to take my photography further by seeing how I can turn it from a hobby to a career.

My Goal

In December 2018 my school, Albany Senior, is hosting a three week trip to Cambodia and Thailand through the World Challenge association. This trip will allow participating students to live amongst a rural community, hike through some of the most character testing jungle in the world and work on ongoing projects to improve the lifestyle of the local people. We will be attempting to assist in matters such as pollution, global warming, improvement of local facilities and education.
The community engagement phase of my expedition will give me an insight into a rich new culture; their language, daily routine, activities, facilities and cultural sensitivities. Many of the people living in Cambodia are stuck in a cycle of poverty, something which is nearly impossible to break out of without aid and funding. Personally I believe that myself, and others lucky enough to live in such a well-developed country, have a duty to help those less fortunate in any way we can. I will be working in a team and providing leadership in order to delve deep into their lifestyle and make their daily routine easier.

All profits from sale of my photographs will go towards funding my trip to Cambodia and Thailand.
